Should arts organizations be expected to approach their businesses with the same degree of courage and creativity that they expect of the artists whose work they present? This was a question we put to New York-based organizational consultant Lisa Yancey during her 2013 visit to the Center.
About Lisa Yancey
Lisa Yancey is an organizational development consultant who specializes in development and fundraising planning, strategic organizational planning, and senior project management for nonprofit arts institutions. The scope of her experience includes long-term institutional planning, developing marketing strategies, strategic development, funder prospecting, overall development of fundraising strategies, and project management, among others. As a performance curator, Yancey created the Restoration Rocks! free concert series at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation in Brooklyn, New York, and worked with the Apollo Theater to launch the Apollo Music Cafe. Further adding to her creative versatility, Yancey has a professional background in dance and choreography. She serves on the boards of directors of MAPP International Productions, Inc., Fractured Atlas, and the Sadie Nash Leadership Project.
