BalletX commissioned contemporary ballet choreographer Adam Hougland to create Risk of Flight, a new ballet for ten dancers with live electronic cello music by Zoë Keating. The ballet, which Hougland described as "stripping away the emotional armor we wear every day,” features a central duet depicting a couple who has just lost a child. Risk of Flight premiered during BalletX’s 2007–08 season at The Wilma Theater on a program that also presented M.O.M. My Own Memory by co-artistic director Christine Cox and Once Again by co-artistic director Matthew Neenan. BalletX has since revived and performed Risk of Flight on several occasions.
