A multi-pronged project surveys the practices of collaboration and collective action, looking to artist-run creative spaces for insights into working together across differences. Interactive exhibitions, performances, workshops, roundtables, and a print publication encourage reflections on collective artmaking and offer a model for building communities beyond the arts. 

The total grant amount represents project funding plus an additional 20% in unrestricted general operating support.

Vox Populi

Founded in 1988, Vox Populi is a member-run artist collective that presents exhibitions in its white box main gallery, performances in its black box AUX space, media programs in its curated video-lounge, and other programs such as gallery talks, performances, lectures, and related events. The gallery periodically invites curators from outside the Philadelphia region to curate thematic exhibitions. Guests curators have included Lia Gangiatano (Participant Inc., New York), Malik Gaines (LAX, Los Angeles), Ceci Moss (Hammer Museum, Los Angeles), and Astria Suparak (formerly of Miller Gallery, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh).
