The Bucks County Historical Society presents the first of three prototype exhibits designed to cultivate new ways of engaging with the Mercer Museum’s vast collection of pre-industrial American material culture.

Installed in formerly empty rooms in the original historic core of the Mercer Museum castle, the experimental exhibits are designed to offer “mini-excursions” adjacent to the larger experience of the Mercer, a National Historic Landmark.

This multi-year project, Plus Ultra: Awakening the Mercer Museum Core, takes inspiration from the Latin motto "plus ultra," or “more beyond,” and enables the Mercer Museum to iterate and reimagine the display of its collection while activating underused spaces and enhancing the visitor experience.

Still to come are Prototype B (September-November 2021) and Prototype C (April-June 2022).
