Choreographer Lisa Kraus developed The Partita Project, a postmodern dance work that responded to the violin partita of Johann Sebastian Bach through movement. Featuring original and improvised violin compositions performed live by musician Diane Monroe, the work drew inspiration from women’s quilting circles by having the audience seated in-the-round. The Partita Project premiered in 2006 at the historic Mount Pleasant Mansion.
