Landscape on Hold

Painted Bride Art Center

The Painted Bride Art Center commissioned a new collaborative dance work created by three Caribbean-born choreographers: Marianela Boán of Cuba, Gabri Christa of Curaçao, and Pew Fellow Tania Isaac of St. Lucia. Over the course of six weeks, the artists created Landscape on Hold, an evening-length work featuring movement and text highlighting the similarities and differences in the choreographers' cultural heritages. The work featured projections of tightly framed movements to amplify the dancers' subtle actions, and images of the sea and land to evoke memories of Caribbean islands.
