Questions of Practice: Curator Lumi Tan on Cross-Disciplinary Curation at The Kitchen

The Kitchen is a unique space in New York, with what curator Lumi Tan describes as a “non-hierarchical” approach to programming in both gallery and theater spaces. As a curator, Tan finds that this hybrid setting offers flexibility and encourages artists to work with new modes of presentation and audience interaction. Lumi Tan is curator at The Kitchen in New York, where she organizes exhibitions and produces performances with artists across disciplines and generations. Tan served as a Center panelist in Performance in 2016 and 2017.
