Associate professor and coordinator of world music and ethnomusicology at San Diego State University (SDSU), Kevin Delgado leads performance ensembles and labs on Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian music. He has presented papers internationally at ethnomusicology conferences, and his published and forthcoming essays and reviews can be found in Black Music Research Journal, Cuba in the Special Period: Culture and Ideology in the 1990s (Palgrave MacMillan), Selected Reports in Ethnomusicology, and A Contracorriente. Delgado has published compositions in jazz/Latin jazz styles, co-directed a SDSU Jazz Ensemble United States State Department tour of Bolivia, and in 2005 was named to Who's Who Among American Teachers. Since 1996, he has traveled to Cuba 10 times to conduct research on Afro-Cuban music, religion, and culture. He served as a Center music LOI panelist in 2012.
