Jeffrey Rollins is a New York-based multimedia artist and the director of Silsila, a performance art and social sculpture collective based in Istanbul that creates collaborative “social interventions” in nontraditional spaces. Rollins refers to his work as “art as social practice,” combining visual art with performance, alternative education, institutional critique, and cultural studies. His recent projects include the 2016 multimedia project The Body of the People, commissioned by Boston University, and Flux, his 2013 performance work, which was presented at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art in partnership with The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1. Rollins’ work is the subject of a forthcoming monograph to be published by Leonardo Electronic Almanac and The MIT Press in 2017. He holds an MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed his BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and The Glasgow School of Art. In 2017, Rollins served as an LOI panelist in Performance.
