Evan Garza is director of Rice Public Art, overseeing public art initiatives on the Rice University campus in Houston, TX. He supervises the University’s collection of public artworks and directs the management and programming of James Turrell’s Twilight Epiphany Skyspace at the Suzanne Deal Booth Centennial Pavilion. Garza served as assistant curator of modern and contemporary art at the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin from 2014–16. He is co-founder of Fire Island Artist Residency, a New York nonprofit and the first LGBTQ artist residency in the US. In 2018, Garza served as a Center LOI panelist in Exhibitions & Public Interpretation.
