Dawn Lundy Martin is a poet, essayist, and video artist. She is the author of four books of poems, including Good Stock Strange Blood, which was the winner of the 2019 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, and Life in a Box is a Pretty Life, which won the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Poetry, as well as several chapbooks. She is also the recipient of a 2018 National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship. Her nonfiction has been published in The New Yorker, Harper's, n+1, and The Believer. Martin is professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh and director of the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics. She served as a Pew Fellowships panelist in 2019.
