Daniel Bernard Roumain is a composer, violinist, and bandleader who combines his classical training with hip-hop and Haitian influences. His compositions have been performed by chamber ensembles and full orchestras such as the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and have inspired the work of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and tap dancer Savion Glover. Roumain has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Philip Glass, Cassandra Wilson, and DJ Spooky, and his work has been commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and a doctorate in musical composition from the University of Michigan. In 2016, Roumain served as an LOI panelist in Performance.
