May Adrales is Director of the Theatre Program at Fordham University and an assistant professor. She formerly served as Associate Artistic Director and Director of New Play Development at Milwaukee Rep and as Artistic Director and Director of Artistic Programs of The Lark, an international play development think tank and laboratory.
She was an artistic associate at The Public Theater (2006–2009), spearheading the Shakespeare Lab and overseeing community engagement programs in the outer boroughs. She has directed over 30 world premieres of musicals, plays and multi-disciplinary performance pieces nationally, and is the recipient of the Andrew Ammerman Award at Arena Stage; TCG’s Alan Schneider Directing Award; League of Professional Women’s Josephine Abady Award; Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation’s inaugural Denham Fellowship; and the Paul Green Emerging Directing Award. She has served on faculty at Yale School of Drama, Einhorn School of Performing Arts at Primary Stages, and the Brown/Trinity MFA program.
