The Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) was founded in 1980 to improve the health and wellbeing of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children three and under. A thought-leading organization in the field of maternal-child health, the MCC offers a variety of services and programs for these populations throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, with a focus on the most vulnerable neighborhoods. In 2019, the organization received a Center Project grant to produce Designing Motherhood: A Century of Making (and Unmaking) Babies, an exhibition, catalogue, and series of programs investigating the designs that have defined the material culture and experience of maternity over the last 100 years.
