Michael Kiley is a composer, sound designer, performer, and educator working in dance, theater, and public installation. He creates his own work under the moniker of The Mural and The Mint, a music project dedicated to experimental performances and recordings. Kiley's work includes commissions for the American Composers Forum and the Brandywine River Museum of Art, and collaborations with Faye Driscoll, Luciana Achugar, Headlong, Nichole Canuso Dance Company, and Arden Theatre Company, among others. His work has been presented at venues including The Walker Art Center, ICA Boston, MCA Chicago, The Guthrie Theater, The Yard, and Danspace Project. Through his experiences as a vocal teacher, Kiley has developed the vocal practice of "Personal Resonance," which he says, "begins with the embodiment of singing as a mental impulse that turns breath into sound for the sole purpose of creating pleasurable vibrations in the body." In 2016, Kiley received Center support to present Close Music for Bodies, a participatory vocal performance developed from the sounds, stories, and movements of individual bodies.
