Mariam Ghani is a multi-media artist, writer, and filmmaker, who maintains long-term collaborations with choreographer Erin Ellen Kelly and composer Qasim Naqvi (Performed Places), artist Chitra Ganesh (Index of the Disappeared), and the Afghan Film Archives. Ghani’s work has been featured in a number of exhibitions and screenings, including the Liverpool Biennial (2004), the National Gallery of Art (2008), the Museum of Modern Art (2011), dOCUMENTA (13) (2012), the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (2014), the Saint Louis Art Museum (2015), and the Queens Museum (2016). Ghani’s writing has appeared in Creative Time Reports, Foreign Policy, and Ibraaz, among others. Recent curatorial projects include In Translation for the 2014 Manifesta biennial, Utopian Pulse at the Vienna Secession, and Radical Archives at New York University. In 2016, Ghani served as a panelist in Performance. In 2017, she served as a panelist for Exhibitions & Public Interpretation and an LOI panelist in Performance and Exhibitions & Public Interpretation.
