Pig Iron Theatre Company's School for Advanced Performance Training, the launching and pilot year of which was funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage in 2010, was featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The school boasts teachers who are fixtures in Philadelphia's theater scene, including Pig Iron founding members and 2002 Pew Fellows Gabriel Quinn Bauriedel, Dan Rothenberg, and Dito van Reigersberg. A.D. Amorosi wrote: "After teaching for more than a decade, the desire to develop something deeper than a weekend workshop had grown in Bauridel. He saw his theater students from Swarthmore and Princeton leaving to pursue their interest in physical and ensemble theater at schools in Paris, London, and beyond, and wanted to develop a local program to keep emerging talent closer to home."
