WXPN's yearlong Center-funded project Zydeco Crossroads continues with a free dance party featuring the Grammy-award winning zydeco funk band Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.

Exploring the origins and evolution of zydeco, a form of African-American roots music that blends Creole traditions, blues, and R&B, Zydeco Crossroads aims to capture the vitality of contemporary zydeco music, with project highlights that have included free concerts at World Cafe Live; Philadelphia Folk Festival performances; community events with local music and dance group Allons Danser; and the premiere of a newly commissioned zydeco documentary by filmmaker Robert Mugge.

Doors open at 1 p.m. This event is free, but registration is required. Register here.
