Accompanying the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s current exhibition Yael Bartana: And Europe Will be Stunned, Staring Back at the Sun highlights thirty-five works by contemporary Israeli video artists, who offer critical perspectives on the political and cultural landscape of Israel and beyond.
Parts I & II on Nov. 1 showcase experimental film and video of the 1970s and later developments in post-production throughout the ’80s and ’90s. On Nov. 3, Part III is organized by Yael Bartana and co-curator Avi Feldman and features Bartana’s Kings of the Hill (2003), and part IV highlights works that grapple with Israel’s current social and political conflicts.
