Work-in-Progress Showing of Mary Tuomanen and Aaron Cromie's "The Body Lautrec"

29 Apr 2013
18:00:00 - 21:00:00
The Mutter Museum

Independent theater artists Mary Tuomanen and Aaron Cromie will present a work-in-progress showing of the Center-funded The Body Lautrec**on Monday, April 29 at the Mütter Museum. This theatrical exploration of French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec will feature both live actors and puppetry, as shown in the work-in-progress clip above. Through the lens of Lautrec's work, which equated the vulgar and the sublime, the piece will explore the intersection of late 19th-century art and medicine. This project is also a meditation on Toulouse-Lautrec’s own body, deformed by childhood falls and an inherited bone disorder.

This free performance is a work-in-progress version of an ultimate production scheduled for 2014. A brief open forum discussion involving both audience and performers will take place after the show to contribute to its development.

The performance duration is approximately 30 minutes, with a 15-minute discussion to follow.

Admission is free. Visit the Mütter Museum's website to register.
