Arcadia Exhibitions presents Sun & Sea, a durational opera with music by Lina Lapelytė, libretto by Vaiva Grainytė, and direction by Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė. Winner of the Golden Lion for best national presentation at the 2019 Venice Biennale, this 60-minute piece, which will loop for five hours each day, features the original cast joined by a non-singing ensemble of Philadelphian performers.

Set on an artificial beach viewed from above, the theatrical installation weaves together contemplative solos that address human concerns both trivial and existential, achieving a deceptively playful exploration of a strained relationship with our planet.

After Sun & Sea makes its US premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Arcadia Exhibitions hosts the second stop on the work’s US tour as part of the 2021 Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
