Sounds of the Circle is a composing, performance, mentoring, and archival project that translates for today’s audiences the innovative musical ideas that inspired Pope when he was coming of musical age in North Philadelphia from the 1940s to 1970s. On October 12, Pope will present his new evening-length suite, evoking neighborhood histories and the musical ideas of Philadelphia jazz innovators of the mid-20th century.
