Scribe Video Center presents the site-specific sound installation Sonic Migration: Morning Comes as part of it ongoing project The Great Migration: A City Transformed (1916-30). Created by artist duo Mendi + Keith Obadike, the work plays shifting musical harmonies that are triggered by sunlight at Tindley Temple United Methodist Church.
The daily presentation of Morning Comes coincides with sunrise for a duration of 30 minutes.
The Great Migration: A City Transformed is a series of audio and video works exploring the history and impact of the Great Migration (1916–30) on Philadelphia, when blacks fled the South for economic opportunities in the Northern states, giving rise to new African American neighborhoods.
