Solèy Midi Performance by Talie Cerin
6:30 p.m.
The Free Library exhibition Chronicling Resistance comes to a close with a performance by musician Talie Cerin. Cerin performs songs from her 2019 release Solèy Midi, a collection of original compositions and Haitian folk songs chronicling a journey to find the sun.
A Philadelphia-based songwriter originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Cerin makes music that mixes Haitian folk and soul, honoring the past while providing hopeful visions for the future.
Chronicling Resistance is an exhibition of artifacts, rare books, archival ephemera, oral histories, and original artwork unearthed from the archives of the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries’ (PACSCL) by a team of eight local activists, cultural organizers, and artists.
The project challenges the systemic erasure of Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ people from the historical record, elevating their stories and illuminating new ways of enacting resistance.
