PRISM Quartet's Center-funded project Color Theory will commission new works by Guggenheim Fellow Steven Mackey and Berlin prize recipient Ken Ueno, which will pair the saxophone with a wide range of percussion instruments, in order to investigate the concept of "musical color." Included in the project is a series of performances, lectures, and workshops that investigate the concept of "musical color."

The Composers Forum will enrich the artistic practices of Philadelphia-based composers by exploring orchestration and techniques used in the creation of Color Theory commissions. This program will feature Color Theory composers Steven Mackey, Ken Ueno, and Stratis Minakakis, and will be moderated by David Ludwig, dean of artistic programs at the Curtis Institute of Music.
