The Women’s Mobile Museum, a year-long collaboration between photographer Zanele Muholi, Lindeka Qampi and ten Philadelphia women, concludes with an exhibition at Philadelphia Photo Arts Center that explores representation, remembrance and identity. The culminating exhibition challenges the social and economic barriers of the traditional art world and asks the question: Who is art for?
An opening reception will be held on January 24, 2019 with a lecture featuring Zanele Muholi and Renée Mussai. The inaugural issue of the Women’s Mobile Museum Magazine, a publication encompassing the complete body of work produced during Muholi’s 18-month-long residency at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, will also launch at the opening.
A concurrent exhibition is featured at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, December 22–March 31, 2019.
