The Philadelphia Matter - 1972/2020 Panel Discussions
3:00 p.m.
In conjunction with Christ Church Preservation Trust’s The Philadelphia Matter - 1972/2020, two afternoons of moderated conversations provide context for the creation of David Gordon’s latest work and examine its place as part of his enduring artistic practice. A virtual performance, the newly commissioned work consists of performances from more than 30 Philadelphia-based artists in addition to New York-based performers, recorded in their own homes and personal spaces.
Saturday, September 19, at 3 p.m.
Christ Church Preservation Trust executive director Barbara Hogue guides a conversation with Gordon and his collaborators, including Wally Cardona, Jorge Cousineau, Alyce Dissette, and Sarah Gladwin Camp, about the process of making the show through the use of remote technology.
Saturday, September 26, at 3 p.m.
FringeArts artistic producer Katy Dammers is joined by Gordon along with archivist Patsy Gay, artist Valda Setterfield, and writer Suzanne Carbonneau to discuss The Matter and its role as an archive of David Gordon’s artistic practice.
Tickets for these online events are free, but reservations should be made in advance.
