Pennsylvania Ballet will perform In the middle, somewhat elevated by choreographer William Forsythe as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The Ballet originally acquired this piece for performances in 2010, with Center support. In the middle, somewhat elevated, originally commissioned by Rudolf Nureyev in 1987 for the Paris Opera Ballet, is set to a pulsating, electronic soundscape by Thom Willems. The work has since been recognized as a contemporary masterpiece.
The piece is featured in Pennsylvania Ballet's "50th Finale" performance, along with: In the Night by Jerome Robbins, La Chasse by Matthew Neenan, and Penumbra by Matthew Neenan.
