Curators Marissa Perel and Brian Wallace give an overview of Trisha Brown's work as it connects to the In the New Body performances at the Barnes Foundation. This lecture will serve to contextualize Brown as a seminal figure of Judson Dance Theater, a choreographic icon, and a collaborator with artists of the postmodern avant-garde.
Funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, In the New Body charts three stages of Brown's prolific career, beginning with performances at the Barnes Foundation and continuing with performances at Bryn Mawr College and the Pennsylvania Ballet. The Ballet will present Brown's O Zlozony/O Composite (2004), becoming the first United States ballet company to perform her choreography.
