Neighborhood Voices Night at Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary’s Hidden Lives, Illuminated will offer a rare look into daily life inside America’s correctional system through four newly commissioned, animated short films, created by artists living or working in prisons. In advance of the project’s 2019 debut, Eastern State invites community members from its surrounding neighborhood to share their thoughts about their neighborhoods and record messages for the incarcerated student filmmakers. In 2019, the project culminates in a one-night festival when all films will be screened, along with documentaries about the artists, which will play inside the historic site’s cellblocks.
