The Musical World of Don Quixote
Piffaro, The Renaissance Band presents The Musical World of Don Quixote, a music and movement performance that will offer audiences a distinctive interpretation of Miguel de Cervantes' four-century-old classic, Don Quixote. Combining narrative elements and ballads drawn from the novel, the performance will be recited in both Spanish and English, with movement choreographed by the award-winning New York-based choreographer Christopher Williams. Monophonic melodies, organ and vihuela works, and lighting effects will transport audiences into Cervantes' captivating world. The performances will feature special guests New York Polyphony, soprano Nell Snaidas, percussionist Glen Velez, and guitarist Charles Weaver, as well as Josep Borras (double reeds) and Eric Schmalz (sackbut).
Performances take place Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 9 at 3 p.m.
