In conjunction with the forthcoming exhibition Making/Breaking the Binary: Women, Art, & Technology 1968-1985, curator Kelsey Halliday Johnson presents a concert by electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani. Presented in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania Department of Music, the concert will feature Ciani’s Buchla synthesizer and piano compositions, preceded by a conversation with the composer.

Making/Breaking the Binary surveys a generation of pioneering female artists and relates their work to the technology innovators who helped shape the information age. The exhibition will include visual artists Jennifer Bartlett and Lynda Benglis, and video and media art pioneers Sonia Landy Sheridan, Joan Jonas, Lynda Benglis, Shigeko Kubota, and Dara Birnbaum.
