Lydie Breeze Cycle Marathon
EgoPo Classic Theater presents the world premiere of Tony Award-winning playwright John Guare's Lydie Breeze Trilogy as originally intended: with all three parts performed successively. Tickets are available for both a one-day marathon featuring all three parts performed back-to-back (April 28, 29 and May 5, 6), or for three-day marathons featuring each part performed over the course of three consecutive evenings (April 25–27 or May 2–4).
In development for 30 years, the epic trilogy is set between the Civil War and the birth of 20th-century industrialism. The trilogy begins with Lydie's childhood in the age of American whaling on Nantucket, then moves through the Civil War and American Utopianism, before ending at the birth of 20th-century industrialism. EgoPo will collaborate with Guare to present all three plays, Women and Water, Bullfinch's Mythology, and Sacredness of the Next Task, in a consecutive cycle, with music by Cynthia Hopkins.
