Allan Kaprow - Chicken - 1962

Allan Kaprow, Chicken, 1962, YM/YWHA Philadelphia, Public Collection

In 1962, visual and performance artist Allan Kaprow presented a “happening” at Gershman Hall titled Chicken, featuring both live and cooked chickens. As part of the University of the Arts’ Center-supported Invisible City exhibition highlighting Philadelphia’s contributions to the avant-garde movement, multidisciplinary artist and Pew Fellow Alex Da Corte presents his reinvented, animal-friendly performance of the piece, featuring choreography by Pew Fellow Kate Watson-Wallace.

This performance is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
