Award-winning choreographer Reggie Wilson curates performances by Philadelphia-based artists at three Society Hill religious sites—St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church, and Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church—in a processional series. Performances highlight the broad narrative history of these spaces and their present-day status in a rapidly changing city.

Presented by Partners for Sacred Places, Grounds That Shout! (And Others Merely Shaking) explores relationships among religion, movement, race, and the body, with a focus on the African American religious experience and in the context of Philadelphia’s historic sacred spaces.
