Gospel Roots of Rock & Soul: Closing Musical Celebration

WXPN presents a closing musical celebration and panel discussion for the Gospel Roots of Rock & Soul. The closing performance features gospel, spirituals, R&B, and blues music with performances by the Gospel Music Preservation Alliance Choir, the Philadelphia Heritage Chorale, The Gospel Blenders, and The Henderson Sisters, with a special appearance by vocalist Sarah Dash. Prior to the performance, a panel discussion, moderated by WXPN's Bruce Warren, will consider gospel music's position in the Civil Rights movement, the impact on R&B, and the role of choirs in gospel and secular music. Panelists include radio host Dyana Williams, musician and music educator Dr. Rollo Dilworth, and gospel music radio host and historian Linwood Heath.
