First Families: Geocaching & Creative Reflection with Yolanda Wisher
10am - 1pm
Pew Fellow Yolanda Wisher (2015) leads a workshop exploring creative reflection in conjunction with the Center-funded Elephants on the Avenue: Race, Class and Community in Historic Germantown, presented by Historic Germantown.
Participants will explore the history and home of one of Germantown's "first families" and have an opportunity to record their own family history through collaborative and creative exercises. Following a hunt for geo-capsules holding historical details and inspiration, participants will discuss the ways in which class and privilege can impact one's ability to preserve family history. Participants will be encouraged to preserve a piece of their family's Germantown story with a take-home time capsule that can be buried or hidden in their yard.
