The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s (PHS) Farm for the City transforms center city Philadelphia’s Thomas Paine Plaza into a temporary, 2,000-square-foot “farm-as-art installation” to encourage public conversations about the role of urban agriculture in strengthening communities. In conjunction with the project, PHS hosts a community reading series to celebrate our the concept of interconnectedness, and the ways communities shape space to confront societal challenges. Each story is selected to be accessible and meaningful for youth and adults alike, with opportunities for multilingual translation.
