The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) hosts a Closing Harvest Celebration at Thomas Paine Plaza to dismantle the 2,000-square-foot Farm for the City installation and to distribute the remaining plants from the farm. The PHS farm staff will answer gardening questions and the United States Environmental Protection Agency will conduct free soil testing for the community.
Over the summer, Farm for the City grew an estimated 1,250 pounds of produce, which was donated to Broad Street Ministry, a community service organization dedicated to serving the homeless, where about 8,600 meals were provided to guests.
