Asian Arts Initiative launches the Center-funded (ex)Change: History Place Presence project with a series of opening events, held as part of the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration. Six Asian American artists have created site-specific artworks across Philadelphia that reflect the city’s rich and layered narratives and its changing neighborhoods. See the full list below.

  • Boone Nguyen: Đi thì không có đường về (Leave, Then There’s No Way Home) Installation: May 3, 5 p.m. at 2108 South 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148.
  • Sueyeun Juliette Lee: Peace Light Installation and Performance: May 3, 7–8 p.m. at 448 N. 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123. A second performance will follow on May 6, 12 p.m.
  • Rea Tajiri: WATARIDORI: birds of passage Installation: May 3, 8:30 p.m. at Rising Sun Night Market (Spiral Q), 3808 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
  • Byron Au Yong: Activist Songbook Composition and Performance: May 4, 5 p.m. at Asian Arts Initiative, 1219 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. A second performance will follow on May 5, 12 p.m.
