Commissioned and Presented by The Mann Center and funded by The Philadelphia Music Project, The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. An original piece followed by DJ dance party featuring New York's "indie pop diva with an avant-garge edge," Du Yun, DJs Phil Moffa and Lee Mayjahs?, and members of International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). Du Yun's music exists at an artistic crossroads of chamber music, theater, pop music, opera, cabaret, storytelling, visual arts and noise. The highlight of the evening will be Angel's Bone, a world premiere commissioned by the Mann, performed by Du Yun with International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and DJ Phil Moffa. Angel's Bone will tell the tale of captivity, bondage and eventual liberation of two heavenly angels from a family with a subversive secret. Libretto: Royce Vavrek. Director: Habib Azar. This event is entirely on the main stage at the Mann. Performance is preceded by a paint drummer performance and followed by a DJ Battle of the Bands and dance party. Free Parking. Cash bar.
