As part of its ongoing project (Dis)placed: Expressions of Identity in Transition, Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture presents a multi-disciplinary workshop exploring the theme of displacement through art, poetry, and music. The participatory event will feature presentations and collective art-making activities by installation artist Buthayna Ali, Pew Fellow and composer Kinan Abou-afach, and poet Nazem Sayed.

This event is free and open to the public; advanced registration is encouraged.

(Dis)placed: Expressions of Identity in Transition is an international collaboration among four artists of Arab heritage who will create new work grappling with notions of displacement. Collaborators include Syrian composer and Pew Fellow Kinan Abou-afach, Lebanese poet Nazem El Sayed, Syrian visual artist Buthayna Ali, and Tunisian visual artist eL Seed. Each artist will be in residence in Philadelphia and will hold public viewings and open rehearsals of works in progress, in an effort to foster close engagement between the artists and the local community.
