Dancing Diplomats follows choreographer Taras Lewyckyj's work with Ukrainian artist Anatoly Kryvochyzha, whose choreography was blacklisted by the USSR in 1977. The exploration of Kryvochyzha's work occurs in the midst of escalating tensions in Ukraine.
In 2012, Lewyckyj received Center support to recover, restage, and document Kryvochyzha's lost works. Working with videographer Henry Nevison, Lewyckyj made a film of the recovered work, which includes the history of Kryvochyzha's experiences with censorship and political exile. Nevison and Lewyckyj welcome the public to attend a public screening and to offer feedback.
