In conjunction with the Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities’ project The Contest of the Fruits, an evening of Uyghur and Urdu poetry offers a glimpse into the lived experiences of two artists forced to leave their homelands.
Poets Tahir Hamut Izgil and Abdul Manan Bhat share words of loss and hope in the languages of the Uyghur region and Kashmir. Translators Joshua L. Freeman and Partha P. Chakrabartty read their works in English. The evening concludes with a Q&A and discussion.
This event is part of the Contest in Context series. The event is free, but advance registration is required.
