In conjunction with the Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities’ project The Contest of the Fruits, artist collective Slavs and Tatars presents a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process, sharing the events that led to their discovery of the Uyghur poem “The Contest of the Fruits,” which inspired their forthcoming animated film.
Haverford College Assistant Professor Guangtian Ha will introduce the text of the poem and moderate a discussion of the piece and the collective’s research-based practice.
This event is part of Hurford’s Contest in Context series of programming offering background and insights into the Contest of the Fruits project. The event is free, but advance registration is required.
