PRISM Quartet's Center-funded project Color Theory will commission new works by Guggenheim Fellow Steven Mackey and Berlin prize recipient Ken Ueno, which will pair the saxophone with a wide range of percussion instruments, in order to investigate the concept of "musical color." Included in the project is a series of performances, lectures, and workshops that investigate the concept of "musical color."

PRISM Quartet joins the ensemble So Percussion for an evening of music, featuring the premiere of a new work by composer Steven Macky, the first major octet combining saxophone and percussion quartets. Also on the program is Bryce Dessner's "Music for Wood & Strings," Hymn from Kati Agócs' "Coluratura," and a reimagining of Donnacha Dennehy's "The Pale." Preceding this performance, WNYC's John Schaefer will hold a lecture examining color theory across disciplines. This program will also be performed on June 7, 2016, at Roulette in Brooklyn, NY.
