This interactive panel discussion, part of Swarthmore's Chopin Without Music, reveals new possibilities for contemporary theater and classical music to intersect in performance.
Funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, Chopin Without Music reimagines the distinct character of Chopin's orchestral writing of two piano concerti using dramatic spoken text constructed from fragments of Chopin's letters and biographies, and Polish writers' commentaries on Chopin. Performances at Swarthmore College and FringeArts are accompanied by this discussion and one other.
Participants: Michał Zadara, Barbara Wysocka, Bassem Akiki, Jeffrey Kallberg (University of Pennsylvania), David Kasunic (Occidental College)
Moderator: Barbara Milewski (Swarthmore College)

EventNels Cline's Lovers (for Philadelphia)
Ars Nova Workshop presents a new commission created and performed by Nels Cline, lead guitarist for the band Wilco. An expansion of Cline’s 2016 recording Lovers (Blue Note Records), the new commission is inspired by research trips that led Cline on an inspiring journey through significant Philadelphia moments, artifacts, and sites.
