"Body Against Body" pre-show audience movement workshop

22 Feb 2013
18:30:00 - 19:30:00
Painted Bride Art Center

The Painted Bride Art Center presents a piece of living dance history as Bill T. Jones revives his avant-garde roots. The pieces in Body Against Body address themes of race and sexual orientation in small-scale duets. Both conceptually and physically rigorous, the dances take on new life through the diverse dancers of Jones’s company.

Conducted by a senior company member of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company for audience members with or without any formal dance training, this workshop will engage participants with the "raw materials" of postmodern choreography, such as speed, level, direction, and location. Participants will leave with a deeper appreciation of the pedestrian and gestural techniques found in postmodern dance.
