AUX Performance Space Presents Performing Collectivity: Jamillah James with Salem Collo-Julin and Maria Dumlao
4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
AUX Curatorial Fellow Jamillah James will moderate a conversation between Philadelphia-based artists Salem Collo-Julin and Maria Dumlao. The artists will discuss their histories of collective participation—Collo-Julin in Temporary Services and Dumlao in Brainstormers—and how their activities, ranging from exhibition-making and self-publishing to performative protests and street-level institutional critique, re-imagine what creative production entails, and de-center its generation, interpretation, experience and circulation.
Jamillah James is a New York-based curator who succeeds Marissa Perel, AUX's fall 2013 Curatorial Fellow. Over the course of two weekends in May, and two in June, James will present a series of performances and events, in conjunction with her fellowship.
The AUX Curatorial Fellowships have been supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.
