Asian Arts Initiative invites artists, designers, curators, organizers, and creative practitioners to submit micro-project proposals, designed to help further transform the Pearl Street alleyway in Philadelphia's Chinatown North neighborhood into a vibrant cultural space, which may serve the community and foster connections between Asian Arts Initiative's diverse community members.

Asian Arts Initiative is receptive to a wide range of proposals: including, but not limited to, proposals for events and proposals for exhibitions (involving the installation of temporary or semi-permanent public artwork in the alley). Project duration may vary, though, on average, would last one month, and would coincide with the First Friday schedule.

Asian Arts Initiative's goal with this call for proposals is to generate and implement projects that will continue to activate Pearl Street, extending the impact of Rick Lowe's residency at Asian Arts Initiative and the revitalization project Lowe spearheaded, focused around this underused alley.

For more information about the call for proposals, please visit Asian Arts Initiative's website. The due date for proposals is September 15, 2014.

Asian Arts Initiative's Pearl Street, Philadelphia, PA project has been supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.
